The main destination for international travelers is the Rio de Janeiro International Airport (GIG), named after Antonio Carlos Jobim – the great Bossa Nova composer and singer.  Rio de Janeiro is served with everyday direct flights from many cities around the world and is a major hub for South America. The distance between the Rio de Janeiro International Airport and the Windsor Hotel Complex in Barra da Tijuca is approximately 30 kilometers (travel time typically ranges from 40 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes, depending on traffic conditions). The Santos Dumont Airport (SDU) is conveniently located in downtown Rio de Janeiro and offers national connections, mainly with the city of São Paulo.
Airports in Rio de Janeiro are served by UBER and taxis. UBER is very popular in Rio de Janeiro for transportation. Inside the airport, you will find taxi company counters, where you can buy a taxi ticket at a fixed price to your destination. For more information about taxis and UBER transportation from the Rio de Janeiro International Airport, please check. DO NOT TAKE UNOFFICIAL TAXIS OR TRANSPORTATION, which might be offered to you at airports.
